Choosing a great location for photos that speaks to you is such an important part of a great photo session. A location that leaves you feeling inspired with great light is awesome sauce. I've complied a list of some of my favorite locations in Wichita, KS to help you find your magic location. These are great locations to start at but I encourage you to explore from here and see what else you can find! You don't want your photos looking the same as everyone else's, right?
#10 Bradley Fair/Wilson Estates
With it's rock waterfalls and plush green grass, the entry to the Wilson Estates neighborhood behind Bradley Fair is a great off the beaten path location for photos.
This location is great because it has a lot of great architectural elements along with the greenery from trees and grass. It's also along the river and really close to the Keeper of the Plains, another location on this list.
#8 Keeper of the Plains
I don't feel like a can make a list like this for Wichita and not mention the Keeper of the Plains. In addition to the Keeper, there are also sidewalks, greenery as well as some interesting staircases at this location. At night, the Keeper and the bridge are lit nicely and at certain times, there is even a Ring of Fire!
#7 Kellogg Underpass near Gander Mountain.
The light that bounces around under the Kellogg underpass can be so dreamy. I also love the leading lines that can be used to draw attention to a subject. There are also some pretty cool ivy covered walls that can add texture to photos. Lots of variety here!
#6 Abandoned Building between Waterman and Douglas on Rock Island. This building has four different sides, almost where you look like you're on different movie sets. This is a great spot for some "greeney" with the Downtown feel.
#5 Douglas Street Bridge
Love this bridge because of the cool architectural elements. The reflected light under this bridge is magical.
Of all of the parks to photograph in, this one is by far my favorite. I love the wood bridges, pathways, lots of trees and the pond as well as the nature that you can see. Deer and turtles are some wildlife you're guaranteed to see here. The Great Plains Nature Center also has an antique piece of farm equipment.
#3 Ambassador Hotel
Hip decor inside plus pretty flower murals make this location awesome. Plus, there is a pretty cool alley doorway and the fence at the Kansas Heath Foundation in proximity.
#2 Old Train Station, Downtown Wichita.
This can be found by taking a small up ramp that is located between Protection One and the Intrust Bank Arena. Cool architectural elements plus this location overlooks the city!
#1 Anywhere Downtown!
The reason I look shooting Downtown, Wichita, KS is because every time I go, I find a new and interesting place to go!
